Become a Local Rep

EIL UK has hosting communities across Britain, and each community is coordinated by a Local Rep.

The local rep is responsible for

  • finding suitable host families,
  • assisting with CRB Dsiclosure checks as appropriate,
  • visiting new and exisitng families and keeping EIL updated of any changes in family circumstance,
  • accepting visitors and placing them appropriately with families in the hosting community, according to individual requirements,
  • dealing with payments for host families,
  • meeting groups and / or individuals as they arrive in the hosting community,
  • resolving any problems which arise during the hosting period,
  • organising group activities as appropriate,
  • completing paperwork for EIL.

The role of local rep is a voluntary one, but they receive expenses for the activities they undertake.

Hosting communities can be any size - from just a couple of families to communities with 40 or 50 families. The most important feature of a hosting community is that they are welcoming to and interested in the visitors they host.
