The Elphick Travel Award
The Elphick Memorial Scholarship was established in 2001 in memory of Jim and Mary Elphick and the work they did for EIL. A fixed sum of money was set aside for travel awards. Once this sum has been awarded this fund will be closed.
The Elphick Memorial Scholarship Award Criteria
a. Minimum age of applicant - 18 years.
b. Applicants can be of any nationality, resident in UK or overseas. Groups are also eligible to apply. In the case of overseas applicants a written reference is required.
c. Applicants must participate in a programme organised by EIL Limited. The length of the programme shall be a minimum of two weeks.
d. Applicants who include a homestay or significant community element in their programme will receive priority.
e. The amount of the Scholarship shall be at the discretion of EIL Limited; it should be a minimum of £500, thereby forming a significant proportion of the total programme cost.
f. Applicants shall write a report of their programme experiences on their return and be prepared to make presentations if requested by EIL Limited.
