Katherine Davis – Chief Executive

Katherine joined EIL in April 2016. She brings her experience as an executive manager working for national charities and the public sector in the fields of networking, nature conservation, business and market development, environmental law and regulation, the arts and running internationally known museums and heritage sites. Having travelled, studied and worked overseas, Katherine is passionate about intercultural learning.

Likes: the outdoors and landscapes, film, music and reading.

Dislikes: aniseed and long queues


Sabine Spires – Project Manager

Sabine is responsible for developing new programmes for people living in the UK and wanting to EXPLORE the world. She joined EIL UK in 2017.

Before moving to the UK she lived and worked in Germany. When her 4 children all went on their own life journeys she and her English husband decided to relocate to England. Having worked in an international company and managing an international “patchwork family” intercultural understanding was always close to her heart.

Since one of her favourite hobbies is walking she is in the right place in the beautiful Malvern.


Kay Williamson – Programme Coordinator

Kay joined EIL UK in 2018 as our Programme Coordinator.

Kay’s role involves recruiting new host families and guiding them through the application process. She is also involved in various support activities for the Programme Managers.

Kay’s first experiment in international living took her to Porvoo, southern Finland; a year teaching in a vocational college supported by the British Council Comenius Programme. Here she encountered the magic of being welcomed into a family home, as each of her colleagues ‘adopted’ her for a month at a time.

This fascination with the Nordic countries didn’t stop there. Kay spent another 4 years in Sweden – firstly teaching at an international primary school in Karlstad and then studying for an MFA in Stockholm. When the Swedish winter just wasn’t dark enough, she decided to spend a month in Iceland learning about local craft traditions.

Now in warmer(ish) climes, Kay brings her experience and love of international living and learning to the EIL team in Malvern. Norway and Denmark can wait for now! …


Karen Harvey – Study Programmes Manager

Karen joined EIL UK in 2016 as our Study Programme Manager.


Sue Preece – Homestay Programmes Manager

Sue has worked on a number of EIL UK programmes in a variety of roles including Homestay (IHP) Co-ordinator, general administrator and receptionist. Sue now co-ordinates the Academic short-term homestay programme arranging weekend homestay orientations for international students at UK Universities. Staying for a weekend with a family can give students a great insight into UK culture and help them to settle into life here. Working on this programme has enabled Sue to work closely with our Local Representatives and national host family network.  Over the years great friendships have been forged between many of our host families and their guests and Sue has played a big role in bringing them all together.

Sue is married with one adult son and has two grandchildren – they like to get her to play football and volleyball with them which she joins in with enthusiastically but pays for it when she gets back home – legs, back, arms ache, asleep on the sofa the minute she sits down!

Likes to read a good book, watch a good film, gardening and standing in the freezing cold on the terraces to watch Worcester City and from time to time going to watch motorbike speedway.


Karen Morris – Cultural Programmes Manager


Toni-Lee Marriott – Finance & Administration Officer

Toni-Lee moved to the UK from South Africa and joined EIL in 2013. Toni’s finance and administration back ground has been honed through diverse South African private industries.
