I had great experience in the Galapagos - my host family were really special and made an effort to make sure I had a positive local experience taking me on weekends to their farm, out on their family boat and even to visit their giant pet tortoise, Pepe, who now lives in the church grounds.
A new Conversation Partner programme has been developed in Ecuador, combining the skills of a language tutor with those of an activity camp counsellor.
The Ecuador Summer Camp programme allows volunteers to spend time with young people, helping them learn conversational English, as well as assisting with activities such as hiking, horse riding, arts and crafts and more.
Volunteer 20 hours each week in exchange for free room and board. Conversation Partners tutor adults enrolled in community centre classes. Weekends are usually free to explore the local sites.
