Jordan
Volunteer up to 20 hours each week as a Conversation Partner in Jordan in exchange for free room and board. Weekends are normally free to experience the culture by travelling around Jordan. Conversation Partners will be placed in the Amman area.
This is a high-energy and really fun position. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up an informal conversation class! Find out first-hand how Jordanians live and work day-to-day. Sometimes there are opportunities to take part in activities. Plus, the locals can show you landmarks and hidden gems.
Overview
The Need
Volunteer up to 20 hours a week tutoring college students in conversational English and help ease their "culture shock" as they prepare to travel to the U.S. on the Work and Travel program. These students will be visiting the US for a few months. Talk to them about Western and American culture, what to expect when they travel to the west, how to organise themselves, book a train, bus, hotels, etc. You act as a "cultural ambassador" for the students in Jordan.
Benefits

- Accomodations in a homestay or guesthouse.
- You put in a couple of hours each day literally talking, and the rest of your time is spent travelling and experiencing the culture in depth.

- Tip the advantage to you by enhancing your C.V. by volunteering as a Conversation Partner. Job: "Language Tutor." References: Global. It just doesn't get any better than that.
- Each organisation is interviewed and carefully screened by in-country staff.
- Exclusive materials will give you "a bag of tricks" as you engage your new "students". Premium membership in the esl-lounge FREE to Conversation Partners.
