Sri Lanka Hospital
This medical volunteer project is located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Participants have the opportunity to help in a hospital working with the local hospital staff. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about Sri Lanka's eastern medicine (Ayurvedha). Ayurvedha is one of the world's oldest medical systems. Very simply, it is the integration and balance of mind, body, and spirit.
The start of this programme is a week long introduction to Sri Lanka. During this time participants will meet each other, learn more about Sri Lanka and its traditions, meet local people, taste the food, sightsee, and learn more about the project.
Volunteer activities may include:
- Observing the local operations of the hospital,
- Assisting with intake of patients, pharmacy, and pediatrics (once the hospital staff observes participants' abilities),
- Helping with the upkeep of the hospital,
- Assisting local medical staff once the participant is familiar with the hospital's operations,
- Shifts may be day or night (shift rota will be determined at the hospital).
