Introduction to Microprojects

In partnership with our colleagues at AIPC Pandora in Spain we can offer a selection of interesting Microprojects for volunteers.  These 3 week Microprojects take place in 12 different countries in South America, Asia and Africa in the months of July and August 2011.

Each project has space for 6-10 participants and are suitable for a diverse range of people from different backgrounds, training and education. 

These projects respond to local needs in the areas of education, health and environment. Pre-departure training (in Spanish) is provided by AIPC Pandora in Madrid over a weekend in June to ensure that participants have the skills needed to undertake and develop projects successfully. Cultural activities further enrich the experience of each participant. In many of the projects, volunteers are housed with local families. 

INDIA 

• Project: Renovation and refurbishment of classrooms in Jaipur

• Date: July and August 2011.

Renovation and refurbishment of classrooms. In the slums of Ambedkar Nagar there are few basic services and no adequate space for children to play. Most of the inhabitants are very poor and live in crowded homes. They focus more on daily survival and there is little education. This leads to many children and young people being illiterate, preventing them from finding decent jobs. Schools and kindergartens in the neighbourhood are small, poorly constructed and shabby, which has negative impact on students and a loss of confidence in education and school. To improve this situation, volunteers will renovate classrooms, painting and decorating them to make them become a nicer place to attend. Donations of educational materials and campaigns for literacy and school attendance supplement the activities of this project.
