Ecuador Summer Camp

Ecuador Summer Camp: Children and volunteers at the summer camp based in Ecuador. This placement is available as one of the Conversation Partner programmesThis Summer Camp in Ecuador is a bit of a variation on the normal Conversation Partner programmes. Volunteers will still spend time teaching young people conversational English, but they will also get the opportunity to participate and work with the campers in activities including:  hiking, biking, horse back riding, dancing, arts and crafts, and more.

Included in this camp programme is a weekend tour to the Cloudforest or Cotopaxi National Park (exact tour is dependent on the schedule). You will also have the opportunity to visit museums, cable car rides, and other local entertainment attractions organised by the camp. Once a week the camp travels in other areas of the city.

Swimming with sharks in the Galapagos Islands: Cat, a Conversation Corps volunteer to the Galapagos Islands, found herself close to this shark while diving at 'Kicker Rock'.Cat, a Conversation Corps volunteer to the Galapagos Islands, sent this about her recent experience -

I had great experience in the Galapagos - my host family were really special and made an effort to make sure I had a positive local experience taking me on weekends to their farm, out on their family boat and even to visit their giant pet tortoise, Pepe, who now lives in the church grounds.

Yesterday, after I had scraped ice off my car to get to work, I received an email from Julie who went to a family in Spain on the Conversation Corps programme. (Conversation Corps volunteers live with a family to help them improve their conversational English.) This is what Julie had to say…..

‘I thought I'd let you know that I've been getting on fine. My family has been very welcoming, and I settled in quickly. In fact, things have been going so well that I plan to stay on beyond the two months originally agreed.
