Meet the Team

Katherine Davis – Chief Executive

Katherine joined EIL in April 2016, bringing with her experience of Chief Executive roles for regional and national charities and an executive management role for a large public-sector regulator. Having enjoyed several homestays in the USA, France and Belgium, Katherine has also travelled, studied and worked overseas, all of which developed her passion for helping others access opportunities for intercultural learning.

Karen Morris – Senior Programme Manager

Karen has extensive experience in developing and managing EIL UK programmes from conception through delivery to evaluation. As Senior Programme Manager, Karen leads on EIL’s Cultural Group programmes, Volunteer and Internship Programmes, Fair Play (Sports) programmes and manages cultural awareness training for UK and international volunteers on the EU’s European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Karen has also represented EIL at meetings overseas.

Charlotte Fereday – Manager Study Abroad

Charlotte manages and runs EIL UK’s Study Programmes including our High School (Academic Year) Programme and Short Study programmes. A trained TEFL teacher, Charlotte has lived and studied abroad in Spain and experienced homestays in countries as diverse as Russia and Spain.

Linda Hellyer –  Manager Homestays

We welcomed Linda to the EIL team in 2019. As a previous (and current) host and Regional Organiser (RO) for the HOST UK programme, Linda brings first-hand experience to her role in leading the team working on Homestays. As part of her role, Linda supports EIL’s network of volunteer RO’s and university staff working in international student offices across the UK.

Maheen Mufti – Coordinator Homestays (including HOST UK)

We welcomed Maheen to the EIL in the summer of 2020.  Her enthusiasm and experience of programme organisation and administration, including digital systems, is invaluable. In addition, Maheen’s extensive experience in managing teams focused on high standards of service helps strengthen EIL’s systems. Maheen also volunteers her time as an RO on our HOST UK programme.

Sue Preece – Records Officer

Sue has worked in a variety of roles at EIL UK, including programme management. Her in-depth and extensive knowledge of EIL’s business processes is the perfect experience for her current role as EIL’s Records Officer. Sue leads on our data security, record keeping and safeguarding checks.

Margaret Matthews – Administrator (volunteer role)

Margaret has supported EIL since the 1980’s in a variety of roles. At present, Margaret volunteers to help our Records Officer and Programme Managers with a variety of data entry and administrative tasks. Margaret’s experience of intercultural education includes a Homestay in Ecuador.
