Volunteer abroad with purpose and make a meaningful contribution
EIL UK works with trusted partner organisations worldwide to offer structured volunteering opportunities that connect people, cultures and communities. Participants can support education, community development, environmental initiatives and sports programmes while working alongside local teams and international volunteers.
Each project combines practical volunteering with cultural immersion and time to explore, giving participants the opportunity to contribute, build skills and gain a deeper understanding of their destination.
How the Application Process Works?
- Choose a project: Browse our international volunteering opportunities and select the project that best matches your interests.
- Apply online: Complete an application form and tell us about your interests and motivation.
- Attend an online interview: Speak with our team about your preferred project and suitability.
- Confirm your place: Sign the activity agreement and pay the deposit to secure your place.
- Prepare to travel: We will guide you through practical preparations, including documents, visas, insurance and travel planning.
- Join a pre-departure briefing: Take part in a virtual or in-person session before you travel.
- Travel and volunteer: Make the final payment, book flights and begin your volunteering experience abroad.
- Feedback & Evaluation: After your placement, share your reflections and feedback with EIL UK so we can celebrate your experience, learn from your journey and continue improving our volunteering programmes.

Who Can Apply?
Projects are open to adults aged 18 and over who are motivated, adaptable and willing to get involved. No previous experience is necessary for most placements, although some projects may have specific requirements. Participants aged 65 and over may be asked for medical clearance to ensure the placement is suitable and well supported.
Travel & Accommodation
Participants arrange their own travel and our team can advise on suitable airports and travel routes for each destination. Accommodation varies by project and may include a local host family, shared volunteer housing or, on selected programmes, a private room option.
